Once upon a time in a cozy treehouse deep in the jungle, lived two little monkey siblings named Miko and Miki. Miko was the older brother, full of ideas and always curious. Miki, his little sister, was cheerful but very cautious. The two of them loved to swing around the branches of their home tree, eat bananas, and play hide-and-seek in the leaves.
But there was one thing they never did: leave their tree.
The jungle around them was full of strange sounds — chirping, rustling, growling. Whenever a wind would blow or a leaf would fall, Miki would grab Miko’s hand and whisper, “It’s too scary out there.” Miko, though braver, wasn’t sure what to expect either. Their parents had always said, “One day, you’ll explore the world. But for now, be patient.”
One sunny morning, a colorful bird named Pico flew to their tree. “Why don’t you come visit the Mango Meadow?” he chirped. “The fruits are sweet, and the breeze smells like honey!”
Miko’s eyes lit up. “Let’s go, Miki!”
But Miki shook her head. “What if there are snakes? Or loud animals? Or… big shadows?”
Pico laughed gently. “The world is big, but not everything is scary. Some things are just new.”
Miko looked at his sister. “We’ll be together. Let’s take a few steps, just to see.”
With a shaky nod, Miki agreed.
Holding hands, the two little monkeys climbed down their home tree for the first time. At first, every twig snap made them freeze. A squirrel darted by, and Miki squealed. But Miko held her hand tight and said, “We’re okay. Let’s go a little further.”
Soon, they saw the Mango Meadow. Bright yellow and orange fruits covered the grass. Butterflies danced in the air. The wind was soft and warm.
“This… isn’t so scary,” Miki whispered.
They took their first bites of mango and giggled as juice dribbled down their chins. Nearby, Pico flew loops in the sky. “See? The outdoors can be fun!”
Just then, dark clouds began to roll in. Thunder boomed in the distance. Miki clutched Miko’s arm. “Let’s go back!”
But Miko looked around and spotted a small cave nearby. “We can stay dry there.”
They hurried inside and watched the rain fall. “You were really brave,” Miko said.
“You too,” Miki smiled. “Maybe the jungle isn’t so scary after all — especially when we’re together.”
When the rain stopped, a rainbow lit up the sky. The monkeys laughed, danced, and made their way home, feeling proud.
From that day on, Miko and Miki explored the jungle a little more every day. They still got scared sometimes — but they learned that courage doesn’t mean not being afraid. It means trying anyway, especially with someone you love by your side.
